Wine of the Week for December 17, 2007

Konzelmann Pinot Blanc VQA 2006 - $10.15
Style: W1
Canada: Niagara

This is a delightful example of what this grape can do in Niagara. The colour is a medium almond-straw. Rich and spicy on the nose, with citrus, banana, pine and a touch of apricot and a slight woody note. Barely off-dry with yummy apple-grapefruit flavours, delicate acidity and a hint of spritz. A nice choice for antipasto, ham or seasonal bird. (LCBO 219279)

I agree, this is a great wine for the money. I don't know if any other winery makes pinot blanc, but I always keep a few bottles of it from Konzelmann at home.
