Wine of the Week for March 12, 2007

Vista Touriga Nacional Berias Red 2004 - $13.20
Style: R3
Portugal

Made entirely of the Touriga Nacional grape (the fundamental grape found in "real" port), this delightful wine shows blueberry, leather, earthy and vegetal aromas. The palate is soft and smooth with dusty tannins, dark berry flavours and a very dry finish. Good body and length. Ideal as a BBQ wine or with simple roasts. (LCBO 613919)

I checked out your story and it's nice enough for me to come to an abrupt halt at the end of it. It left me wanting more. You have a pleasant and easygoing writing style that wishes to share knowledge rather than show off.

It's an inventive way to educate about wine, although I do hope not too much 'plot' gets in the way ; -)

Cheers,

I was glad to see one of our LCBOs had it and so gave it a try. It has surprising body and depth of flavour for a sub $20 wine, let alone under $15!! Excellent call. I will put a couple of bottles down to see how it develops over the next couple of years.
